Soft Glamour: Dewy Skin Tricks

Hello Darlings!
Today I will be sharing with you one of the looks I created on the gorgeous Kelly Clark for the Borboleta Beauty site! I love soft-glam looks and anything that still looks natural on the skin. When it comes to foundation, I am all about letting the skin still breathe and show through the makeup. Finding products that will not create that “Cake” or heavily powdered look can be tricky. My favorite thing to keep the skin looking healthy and not covered up is to apply a moisturizing setting spray at the end. This is super important to create that “Dewy/Glowy” look. Check out my favorite spray below as well as how to create this soft look!

Dewy Skin…
Setting Spray: Mario Badescu Rosewater – this ultra moisturizing spray will help to create that glowing look after applying powder. I like to spray it hands-length away from the face twice in an X motion. Take a clean big fluffy face brush and pat the skin with it, this will press the moisture into the makeup and create that look. I love the Rose smell to this spray as well. It has Aloe & Herbs for a nice refreshing feel!

Keeping Clear: Skin Care While Traveling

Hello loves!

Since I will be traveling a lot over the next couple weeks, I am very cautious with my skin and how I care for it. Being in airports and big cities can always make my complexion a little irritated, so I make sure to exfoliate every night and never go to bed with an inch of makeup on. I like to switch up my skincare regimen every couple months. This month I am using very little product and I have been wearing less makeup so that my pores stay clear. See below my travel skincare routine and how I stay glowing from city to city! XOXimage

Image Skincare: Total Resurfacing Masque ~ I cannot live without this all-in-one masque/exfoliator in my life! It has really kept my pores clean and gets rid of all impurities. I like to exfoliate with this every night to take my makeup off. Some mornings I will apply it as a masque and leave it on for 20min. It is a stronger scrub and tingled quite a bit on the skin.

Natura Bisse: Diamond White Matte Sunscreen ~ I have been pretty oily on this trip due to all the climate changes, so I have been skipping the moisturizer and going straight to my favourite sunscreen at the moment, Natura Bisse. This line was formed out of Barcelona, and I had the chance while I was there last week of meeting with one of the owners and had a tour of one of their amazing spa’s. I received some of their new products to try and will be doing s review soon. But this sunscreen is a must, it is not oily, adds wonderful moisture to the skin and smells divine! This is serious luxury when it comes to SPF!

Motives Perfecting Primer ~ to add a little bit more of a “matte” look to my skin after all the exfoliating and hydrating, I like to add a small amount of this lovely Motives primer. It fills in any lines/pores and leaves my skin fresh and ready for my makeup application!

Winging Out…

Good Afternoon!!

Recently I have been wearing less eyeshadow and more eyeliner! You can never go wrong with a sophisticated thick winged liner! I love to pair this with a white eyeshadow and a little soft brown shadow in the crease. This is a perfect everyday look for every eye shape! Coat your lashes with some mascara or wear some amazing lashes to finish your eyes! Instant beauty in 5 minutes!

IMG_6406IMG_6415Products for the eyes…

Eyeshadow: Base- MAC “Blanc Type”  – apply all over the eyelid | Crease- MAC “Soft Brown” barely apply to the crease for a brown shadow effect.

Eyeliner: Motives liquid liner in black – line the entire eye with this pocket size liquid liner, lightly wing out the ends and thicken up the wing!

Lashes: Huda Beauty in “Samantha”  & Huda Beauty Glue – obviously pop on your favorite falsies or some mascara!

Eyes are complete! <3

Morning Skincare Update!

Hello beauties!
I have been getting a lot of emails about my morning skincare routine that I said I would be sharing and I am finally getting around to it now! I really don’t like to complicate my morning regimen too much since I already use so many products at night and do treatments monthly. You do not need to use as many products in the morning as well because the most important time to care for your skin is at night, this is when you want to layer and really pay close attention to the care of your skin. Also, the products you use in the morning should be pretty mild, leave all of the strong stuff till later because it will have more time to penetrate into your epidermis, allowing you to see better results.
Learn how I keep my face squeaky clean below!
Enjoy

1. I first wake up and cleanse my face with the No. 7 Boots Quick Thinking Wipes. These are great moisturizing and hydrating cleanser wipes that get the sleepiness of the skin and any excess night product. I do not like to wash my face in the skin because I have a lot of natural oiliness already to it when I wake and my cleansers are pretty drying. You can pick these wipes up at your local Target or online HERE.
2. I spray my face with the Yonka Lotion Toner. Okay, talk about one of the most relaxing and amazingly scented toners. No alcohol at all included in this product and it is more of my “Good Morning” spray that wakes me up with a refreshing mist. Buy HERE.
3. Some days I will be dryer than others, on these mornings I like to take a pea size of the Lush Ultra balm and apply to the dry patches. I have been using this amazing compact oil for a while now and it is one of the most universal products I have ever found to work very well. I like to use it on all places of the body for dryness, and have found that it works out great underneath the eyes and many other places. Buy HERE.
4. I am a big fan of Clarins Instant Smooth Primer, I have yet to find any primer yet that tops it, and I have used many. The consistency of this primer is like a creamy butter, it goes on real smooth and literally diminishes the appearance of fine lines, blemishes, and large pores. If you suffer from these concerns, I HIGHLY recommend this product. You will see a huge difference dramatically after applied to the skin. Buy HERE.
5. Lucrece Tinted SPF 50 has been my favorite sunscreen for around five years now. I love to use it as a quick cover up for the gym or running errands as well. The great thing about it is that it is a “one shade fits all” product and blends perfectly to your skin tone. I like to apply a small amount to the skin lastly as a good protection from the suns harsh rays. I do not leave the house without my SPF on, I started this at a young age and have never had a problem with pigmentation because of it. Buy HERE.
6. Thomas Roth Unwrinkled Lip Cream is a beautiful lip balm that always leaves my lips feeling supple and soft before my lipstick application. It also helps with major dry lips and small wrinkles. Buy HERE.

Saturday Celebrity: Charlize Theron

Good morning lovelies!
Hope you all had a wonderful busy week and now have time to relax! It has been non stop travel for me lately! I just returned from San Diego a couple days ago, I am lucky enough to spend a week there each month for makeup and skincare clients…as well as catch on some sunshine therapy!
Today is a quick post on how to get this super natural yet wearable look from Charlize Theron! She  is such a natural beauty that a little amount is enough for her. This look is all about staying very neutral, no pops of color here. Sport this “bare” look today!
Enjoy

Clinique “Even Better” Foundation ~ Any foundation claiming to make skin look “even better” without makeup is going to cause some amount of attention!  Clinique Even Better definitely has.  It’s brilliant blend of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide cause this foundation to be filled with sun battling benefits unlike most. This foundation is light-medium coverage so skin still shines through looking natural. You can wear it with no powder or for a more “Matte” look, set it with translucent!

MAC Pink Tea Blush ~ This is a great blush for people that don’t really like blush. It is very light dusty rose hue. Personally I am not a huge fan of a cheek full of blush, so this color is always my go-to for clients who are more on the natural side.

MAC Nylon Eyeshadow ~ This shadow was one of the first that I purchased from MAC. It has had many roles in my collection, it’s a great inner eye-duct highlighter, cheek highlighter, shimmering cream eyeshadow,  and brow bone highlighter! Basically it is great for creating a beautiful glow to many areas. In this look it is applied just to the lid and underneath the waterline for an “eye-opening” effect.

Lancome Hypnose Mascara ~  This mascara is great for women wanting to achieve a more “volumous” lash. It holds a curl really well, and has a beautiful lengthening effect. It is flake and smudge free, and also lasts up to 12+ hours. A great every day mascara!

KA’OIR Nudity Lipstick ~ If you haven’t head of “KA’OIR” lipsticks yet, you have got to try them! These super richly pigmented and creamy sticks come in all assortment of colors to choose from, purple, green, pink, you name it! “Nudity” is by far the most wearable out of the collection and is a very cool pink nude color!

Have a wonderful Saturday!
I’m off to do weddings all day, wish me luck!

Product Spotlight: Milani Baked Bronzers

If you haven’t tried Milani’s collection of baked bronzers, you are missing out.
For me, baked bronzers always seem to work best as they have a fair bit of shimmer to them and aren’t as matte and muddy as a press formula. Milani carries these beautiful bronzing powders that feature a mélange infusion of colors that were baked on Italian terracota tiles. Easy to use, and smooth in texture,  these bronzers become extraordinarily luminous and give a light glow when applied. These hi-tech, streak free and marbalized bronzers give a perfect radiant look for all skin types and you can even use them wet for more intensity if you wish!
Add these to your collection today!

Enjoy

Glow is a very light bronzer that gives the perfect amount of sun kissed shine. I love to contour with this powder because it is not too shimmery and is really easy to blend! I love to use Glow for an all over face and neck bronzer as well. Whenever I get a spray tan I always leave my face a bit lighter than my body, so this is a great neutral shade that can be worn everywhere! Buy HERE

Soleil is a very deep brown bronzer with a swirl of golden shimmer, great for those with more “cool” skin tone. You want to stay away from any mahogany/orange toned bronzer when you are so light and fair. This bronzer is highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. Use a very light hand when applying. This is a great cheekbone bronzer. Buy HERE
Golden explains it all in the name, it really is a “gold” bronzer. It has hints of copper and mahogany swirl. This is my favorite out of all three. It is a dark bronzer and is great for those with a very “warm” tone to their skin. Great on deep dark skin tones also. It has a good shimmer effect so no need for a lot of highlighter! Buy HERE
You may want to track down a blush brush to apply these (or other) bronzers if you don’t have one yet. There are lots of different bronzer brush options, like kabukis, powder brushes, angled brushes and more. The angles of a blush brush allow you to more precisely define the hollows and curves of the face. Try Benefit Slant Brush for a perfected application!
There are a lot of ways to mess up makeup these days. Like the wrong colored foundation or overly pink cheeks, but the worst of all has to be the misuse of bronzer.
Don’t make the same mistakes as Lindsey…

Happy Weekend!

Fresh and Flawless Makeup

When it comes to event makeup many people get the impression that its always high fashion and glamorous with false lashes and more. As this can be true to some extent, the ‘nearly there’ look has not gone out of style just yet. More and more you will see girls with an almost ‘naked’ look to their makeup, but really its just how it is applied. The truth, it seems, is not so much that “less is more” as that “more is less.” The objective is to let your skin show through and to look like a more flattering version of yourself. That is exactly what I did when miss Emily walked into my room. She was already so naturally beautiful I felt as if i didn’t need to do anything to her look, so with minor fixes I gave her a effortlessly flawless look for the photo shoot. This style of makeup is beautiful for any type of occasion, especially for the most natural brides to be!
 Hope you enjoy…

Get this natural look: Foundation
The foundation for this look was created with Airbrush, but I will list how to do it as if I didn’t have an airbrush machine so you all can achieve it!
Let me introduce to you all the ERA Face Spray-on foundation! This product has been one of my favorites for years, it is one that I go to when I am not using airbrush machines. ERA is made for everyone, it is an oil-free foundation that doesn’t dry your skin or break you out. This foundation was originally created for burnt victims who had sensitive skin. With this said, this foundation is infused with Vitamin C and E, Botanicals, Aloe Vera and Chamomile. The product is lightweight, but the coverage is amazing. You may either spray the foundation on or use it with a brush. It is long lasting, wear & water-resistant and it looks like skin!  ERA shades are determined by your skin undertone and the normal shade you are: light, medium, tan.
They are true to color and match skin very easily!
